Imagine a place where hearts learn to sing. Where music floats through hallways, and where young and old alike join forces to discover and develop their creativity through the arts.

Founded in 1897, the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music has been serving the New York musical community for over a century. Through our long-standing commitment to the highest quality in arts education, the Conservatory has the distinction of being one of the oldest and largest community music schools in the nation.

Our two schools, one nestled in a completely restored five-story Victorian Gothic mansion in the heart of historic Park Slope, Brooklyn, and the other in a newly renovated building in the bustling international neighborhood of Flushing, Queens, serve as comprehensive music centers for nearly 2,000 students of all ages and backgrounds. Our student body, drawn from throughout the New York metropolitan area, the United States, and from 27 foreign countries, is a reflection of the vibrant cultural diversity that is the essence of New York.

Our distinguished faculty members hold advanced degrees from the world's finest conservatories and universities. Many also maintain active and prestigious performance careers. And all are dedicated to bringing music into the lives of those in their community...from the beginning student just starting out to the advanced student contemplating a career in music.

The Conservatory is open well into the evening and on Saturdays, to accommodate even the busiest schedule. Lessons and classes are moderately priced, allowing access to people of all financial means. Scholarships are also available.
